Programmes - Assessment

Our assessment process is based on years of experience and in-depth research conducted by our experts at Rainmakers. This research is possibly the most detailed study of rainmaking ever conducted. And it means we can get straight to the heart of your firm to give you a complete, three-dimensional picture of your current rainmaker levels and your future potential.

What do we assess?

We know that successful rainmaking is based on the ability to consistently choose the appropriate actions and behaviours that will build effective long-term and productive relationships.

Further analysis reveals that four factors are crucial:

  • Consistent focus on the right plan and strategy

  • Consistent and effective implementation of knowledge and skills

  • Consistent awareness of individual differences to understand and react pertinently to other personalities

  • Consistent application of the right amount of effort in the right direction

Our assessment looks at these four key areas by analysing 74 specific factors that can influence rainmaker success. We have developed a detailed assessment process combining scenarios, profiling and discussions for each of these areas. This enables us to explore how an individual's own style and approach is likely to combine with their knowledge and skills to deliver a result today, or just as importantly, how they can develop to deliver rainmaking success in the future.

How long does it take?
You need to spend approximately half a day answering the questions. We'll then analyse the answers. Then we'll spend another half day in discussion with you to give objective, positive and developmental feedback on how you are operating today and formulate an individual development programme.

What happens next?
The development programme we agree is totally unique and specifically tailored to each individual. Many however, contain a blend of three related elements:

  • Coaching by an external consultant

  • Self development via research and action

  • Mentoring by colleagues

The assessment is carried out again after six and twelve months to monitor and confirm progress.

Can you assess anything else to make a difference to my firm's business development?

Yes. We have also developed a process of environmental audits to ensure that people are supported by their management, systems and culture in order to make their efforts effective. Our research shows that environment can improve effectiveness by up to 50 per cent, but also reduce effectiveness by as much as 90 per cent.
